Long Life Servicing \ Lack of servicing

[fusion_text]We are seeing more and more issues directly related to long life or lack of servicing . In this week at our workshop servicing a VW Scirocco R upon draining the oil and removing the filter it was plain to see that this vehicle had not received the amount of engine oil changes that was necessary . The engine oil had deteriorated to a thick black mess and the oil filter had broken up and although it seems the engine has survived  there could still be long term issues.

Audi S3 in also this week for Haldex fault finding faults occurring for Haldex pump open circuit . Output tests carried out on the pump revealed no pump reaction and no current change . Draining the Haldex unit and removing the pump it was soon obvious that this vehicle had badly contaminated oil which had caused the pump to fail. The vehicle was a recent purchase and the customer had been assured that the Haldex oil had been changed . A new pump was fitted as well as fresh oil which restored correct operation.

Again there is no substitute for correct regular maintenance so often it may seem expensive and it’s tempting to leave out some items but in the long run it can save expensive repairs.
