VW Touran ABS issues

We were asked to code a used ABS control unit on a 2011 Touran . For this operation we use the dealer tool Odis on line. After completing the coding calibration is necessary on a list of sensors acceleration sensor, steering angle sensor and this is completed by a road test. After road test the operation would not complete the reason being that there were faults stored for both rear ABS sensors. After contacting the customer we were told that this was the original fault and that both rear sensors had been replaced already. As this didn’t solve the issue the ABS control unit was sent away for testing and was reported as faulty beyond repair. At this stage this is where the second hand control unit had been sourced. Further investigation revealed that the rear sensors were non genuine replacing with original equipment parts solved the fault and allowed the calibration to complete. The question is was the control unit necessary? Maybe all that was needed were genuine sensors in the first place? We will never know. In our business we only use genuine sensors as from experience we have seen so many issues with non-genuine parts.
