We were asked to take a look at a 2011 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Diesel with a blocked DPF and an engine warning light on this vehicle has covered over 100,000 miles . Diagnostics were carried out using the Ford dealer tool IDS . Faults stored were indicating that the DPF was at the end of its life and required replacement .Using a proven diagnostic approach we were able to establish more than one issue that had caused the DPF to block . After rectifying the faults found we carried out our three stage cleaning process on the car . Before cleaning the pressure in the DPF was 38 millibar at idle and 380 millibar at 2,500rpm. After cleaning and resetting the DPF an extended road test was carried out and the results were rechecked. At idle the back pressure was down to 4 millibar and at 2500 rpm the back pressure was 10 millibar and excellent result from a badly blocked DPF and a much cheaper option than fitting a new DPF.
